Ok..i have a lot to say...and i will just blurt them out...there wont be any organization to this..but you can figure it out ...its not that hard...
Firstly, i will talk about how i met some of my friends..infact to be honest....i hated this place and never really liked college till summer..more this semester..
I think of the people i hang out with now..I met Sowmya first...i met her actually last fall ...the very first day of classes..i saw her and i was like...some indian person who seems to be quite nice...i introduced myself outside the bus stop in bobby dodd...i guess she must have thought i was an ABCD (American Born Confused Desi...another word for Indian)...and we talk a lot about really philosophical things.....even today at lunch we were talking about how people are very modern and what some peoples views are...i guess this is another topic..but its good to have a nice south indian (yes i know i shouldnt say this but i just will anyway) friend...
Next, I met Nisha ...and she became a good friend of mine in summer..i met her in the clusters once when i was doing Java...and i saw her coding and talking on her cell phone and talking ..talking...and talking!!! she was a very cell-phonish person..and i realy thought she was an ABCD as wel...but i guess once you get to talk to someone and know them better..it doesnt matter ...we had enough fun making jokes in DDL and DSP..and going through the frantic DSP labs...and studying for the tests and all...we usually argue a lot but usually leave it ..and just respect each others views..actually...we differ a lot in many thigns...like conservative/liberal topics, styles of dressing, religious attributes, culture to a certain extent and even music choices.....I think her roomate, Shubra, also a nice friend shares a lot of views similar to mine and its fun flushing Nisha ...:-) ... this semester, we have 3 classes together...so we often complain about our professors...and the usual comments that we make...our hang outs have usually been at starbucks or chatpatti...and not to mention City Cafe!
Ok..next friend...Gaurav..i remember meeting him last fall in Brittain with Rao and Amol...i cant really remember what my first impression was but i remember he used to make jokes and was a pretty light hearted sort of a person...kind of laid back and relaxed....i remember asking them...where they lived..and they said Hanson...and then we went to SAC ...played TT...said "redwaaaaan"...and then i use to see them once in a while at the dining hall....however, i didnt make the effort to go and interact so much with anyone...and even though i knew him and talked him ...i guess he was more of an acquantiance last year....but after summer..and leaning more towards spring semester finals week...i kind of started talking to him..i dont know how actually...i think once at the library...and then in DSP...and we just started talking...and became good friends....and ofcourse there were many people that we didnt like..and it was always fun making jokes about those idiots...in summer...we used to go a lot to Quiznos...and during one DSP lab...it was City Cafe..this semester ....i see him more often at Woodruff...and ofcourse we chat a zillion times on MSN...and its just nice sometimes to make jokes..and he found a nickname for me..ironically, its not any shorter than my name 'lavahendri'...seems like a combination of my first and last name...well i hope we have some classes together in the spring...and we can continue or mockery of the weirdos at tech..you know who all i mean by that (hey hey hey)
ok..now to Ranit...i met him at FASET..and my first impression of him was...this guy is very smart..seems pretty sharp...and kind of mature/serious about life...so i kind of felt timid about apporaching him ..but he was the first indian guy i met here...and i used to see him a lot in Brittain (where most of our socializing would take place)...but it wsant till summer i got to know him quite well...Our usual discussions at Quiznos...and even the study lounge in the ECE building before a lab or hw was due...and our random snacking habits...going to Burger king..and McDonalds...it was definitely an experience i wont forget...the trips to Devdas, and other movies...and Mirch Masala was nice..and i remember first when he said..lets all go out to a restaurant ....and then we went ...and all had a pretty good time...
Next to Rao...although, i met him with Gaurav in fall of last year..i didnt really get to know him well till this semester...i didnt have any classes with him....but i went to their room a lot of times...(the semster has only barely started) but in that short amount of time..we have talked and gotten to know each other fairly well...i think one of the days i tutored ...he came by..and we were talking a lot about things in general..and i could relate to a lot of things he was talking about..mainly because he has lived in India and the US...and i guess its very similar to my position...kind of understanding and appreciating both cultures...we talked about religion, history (indian), friends in high school...and a lot of interesting topics...it was a very nice discussion...and being the fact he is a Telugu...we talk a lot about South Indian movies as well...but its nice...because i am also quiet at times...and even in that sense we can relate to each other's personalities....
Lastly, Somas...i met him with Sowmya actually along the hill on east campus....this was funny..b/c i had never heard of that name before...and i automatically asumed he was "Thomas" and a Malu christian..i think somas must have been like what an ignorant AB when he first found out ...actually, i met somas a lot of times in Brittain ..but i didnt get to know him too well till this semester really...i guess the fact that i knew all of his roomates in summer..and my frequent trips to their room...made me get to know him better....we usually joke about baldy...or talk about south indian stuff..from holidays..to actresses..to A.R.Rahman!!!!! and since he is alos a tamilian..we can both relate to a lot of things...well i guess thats pretty much it for now....its been a very interesting past 2 semesters for me....rather sudden...and refreshing..and finaly i can say i fit in at Tech..and i have some good friends...and hopefully it will be that way....! Thanks to all of you for your encouragement and support and making me feel important here! blog to be continued....
